Rooted at home.
Connected to the world.

Your daily life involves more than one country, or simply an ordinary tax year. We advise you from Oppenau in the Black Forest.

Our focus is on financial statements and tax returns that are hard to get right: complex questions of German commercial accounting, such as the annual accounts of companies bound by a profit transfer agreement or consolidated group accounts, securities accounting, crypto assets, chains of shareholdings, reorganisations in the accounts, large trading companies. We work out the tax consequences of a planned structure; once it is chosen, we carry it through the bookkeeping, the accounts and the tax returns year after year.

The annual income tax return is part of this too. Tasks that are out of the ordinary are our field.

Alongside this we advise politically exposed and internationally active people, as well as families with cross-border ties. For a first consultation, write to office@eu-treuhand.de.

Areas of work

The basis is ongoing work: bookkeeping, payroll, financial statements and tax returns, from the annual income tax return to consolidated group accounts. We examine matters in greater depth where several countries or several companies are involved.

Politically exposed and internationally active people

People holding public office or a public mandate, for whom banks and advisers must meet special due diligence requirements. We also advise people working in public service or for international institutions who receive pay from several sources and have homes in different countries. They include seconded national experts and EU staff.

Living across borders

Income from abroad and homes in two countries. We advise on moving abroad or returning, including where spouses earn income in different countries.

Crypto assets and investments

Crypto assets, foreign currencies and investments in your tax return: we bring together the statements of exchanges and wallets and check funds and accounts held abroad, including withholding tax. We also prepare supplementary declarations for earlier years.

Businesses in transition

For succession or leasing out a business, reorganisations or liquidation, we prepare the accounts and work out the tax consequences; we value shares where a figure is needed. We set up bookkeeping and administrative processes with the aim of reducing manual work, and we carry out voluntary audits.

When the tax office calculates differently

Your assessment differs from your return, or a tax audit has been announced. If the tax office calculates differently from us, we assess whether an objection has prospects of success and what it would cost, then raise it in agreement with you against the assessment and the linked administrative acts. We also assist during tax audits.

A second review

Reports and expert witness work for colleagues and clients. We review annual accounts or fee statements and independently check existing calculations. Colleagues can enquire without naming their client.

About us

Approach

EU Treuhand GmbH Wirtschaftsprüfungsgesellschaft Steuerberatungsgesellschaft, based in Oppenau in the Black Forest, combines auditing as public auditors (Wirtschaftsprüfer) with tax advice. We read legal sources in their official wording and disclose contradictions between them. Our judgment follows the law; only once the position is clear do the options follow from it. You decide the scope of the engagement.

Background

Our knowledge has two roots. One is academic: business and the natural sciences, studied with the aim of understanding how things connect before a rule is applied. The other is the craft: the German tax profession's own training from certified tax clerk (Steuerfachangestellter) to certified tax specialist (Steuerfachwirt), learned on the receipt and the ledger account. Both paths lead to the certified tax advisor (Steuerberater) and meet there. Computer science supports them: we recalculate figures and check their origin, including our own calculations; we build the tools for this where the work needs them. That is why clarification comes first: the facts and their evidence, then the rule. From that understanding and a love of detail come financial statements and tax returns made the way we would make them for ourselves.

Procedure

Tax advice begins with the right questions. We ask them because we know the cases, and one responsible person keeps your engagement in view over the years. We set the procedure in advance: responsibilities, documents, who provides what by when and what falls outside the engagement. We check which deadlines belong to it and tell you what is missing. Assessments we receive we compare with the return. We tell you how certain our view is and what losing could cost.

Tools

Where standard software is not enough, our own tools analyse transaction histories from wallets and exchanges or read scanned annual account records. New technology, including artificial intelligence, we use first where we gain knowledge: in research and analysis. We examine the substance before completing forms.

Confidentiality

We have a professional duty of confidentiality, starting with your first enquiry. We understand circumstances in which public responsibilities call for particular discretion when fulfilling tax obligations.

Working together

You upload documents to the DATEV applications and approve drafts there, also while travelling. Meetings are possible by video, and post remains an option. We advise in German, English, Russian, Ukrainian and Spanish. Our clients come from, among other countries, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, France, Belgium, the Netherlands, Poland, Ukraine, Finland, the USA and Australia. Where our reach ends, for instance in another country or field of law, we refer you to colleagues we have worked with for many years. If another firm is a better fit, we say so.

Services

We prepare tax returns and handle ongoing financial bookkeeping and payroll. Digital documents are the agreed route, and bookkeeping runs in the DATEV environment. Reports follow the rhythm of the advance VAT return; we choose this frame because it carries most engagements. Content and timing of the reports depend on what your business needs, including at an earlier point. Where a case calls for more than the usual report, we go there. For succession or a reorganisation, we work out the tax consequences and prepare the accounts through to the transfer of the business. We also provide representation in objection proceedings and before the German fiscal court under the agreed engagement.

We prepare valuation reports. Colleagues and clients can also ask us to review existing accounts or fee statements.

For clients: DATEV access & guides · Downloads · Deutsch

The client area is accessible without registration. It contains DATEV guides and information sheets from Deubner Verlag. The client area and the guides are in German; we explain the steps to you in English.
